Grand Prix Nova in partnership with Longueur d'Ondes and with the support of the French Institute of Romania offers a four-day intensive summer training program in radio fiction (podcasting) in English. 

The first edition of this program is aimed at 10 young audiovisual professionals. It is part of the 12th edition of the Grand Prix Nova festival (June 23-28). The call is open to professionals from Georgia and Turkiye (one candidate per country will be selected). A second call for applications for Romanian professionals will be launched. 

The workshop "Orizont sonore/ All we can hear" is a dedicated experience in sound creation for ten candidates, allowing them to realize their ideas. The program will follow a path from raising awareness about listening to the realization of a sound creation. 

In collaboration with professionals (artists and technicians), participants will develop their own short sound fictions, individually or in pairs. In a professional studio, they will follow the sound path, from recording to digital and multichannel processing using dedicated software. A sound engineer will be available to provide technical support throughout the process. The productions will be presented during a public listening session at the opening of the Grand Prix Nova festival. This listening will be followed by discussions with authors and producers present at the festival. The official language of the workshop is English, but the creation process is open to multilingualism. 

The training will therefore revolve around three segments:

• Theoretical and practical training in soundwriting (from conception to editing)
• Realization of a short sound fiction (individually/in pairs)
• Discovery of the French/Romanian/European ecosystem of radio/podcast creation: listening sessions, meetings with authors and professionals from the sector, audio recordings in studio and outside, work on mixing with a professional sound designer, etc.

Geographical scope: Georgia & Turkiye

Conditions : young audiovisual professionals – radio/podcast directors, journalists, filmmakers, sound creators, etc., under 35 years old as of January 1, 2024, and proficient in English.

Application dossier :

• A succinct presentation of a concept adaptable to a short sound fiction. The idea can be original or an adaptation.
• A short biography and/or presentation of the candidate
